A Springfield clergyman has been invited by The History Channel to join with religious leaders nationwide in a live Twitter chat during the premiere of its four-part miniseries “Jesus: His Life” on Monday night.

Bishop Talbert W. Swan II, pastor of Spring of Hope Church of God in Christ and prelate of Nova Scotia Jurisdiction of Church of God in Christ, is among the online clergy participants. He is also president of the Greater Springfield NAACP.

The faith-based History Channel series, which airs during the Lenten season, tells the story of the life of Jesus through the eyes of his contemporaries, including his mother, Mary, John the Baptist, Judas Iscariot, Caiphas and more. It airs for four consecutive Monday nights beginning March 25 at 8 p.m.

Swan will live tweet along with other faith leaders about the premiere, giving their perspective of the program and engaging the online audience.

The hashtag #JesusHisLife will be used during the Twitter chat.

Swan, who was previously selected to live tweet during a showing of the 2017 movie “Crown Heights,” has 102,000 followers on Twitter.

A graduate of Western New England University, Swan earned a master’s degree in theology at Hartford Seminary and was ordained as an elder in 1991. He was consecrated as bishop in 2014.

“Jesus: His Life” is a mix of dramatization and interviews with prominent Biblical scholars, preachers and historians. The series interviews and consulted with a diverse group of scholars, faith leaders and theologians from across the ideological spectrum to provide a rounded picture of the life and times in which Jesus lived.

“Viewers will see and experience the life of Jesus as never before. Through this powerful and thought-provoking portrait of a man who is one of the most influential people in human history,” said Mary Donahue, a senior vice president at The History Channel.
